The Deputy Registrar Program has been canceled. No future training sessions will be held.
Amendments have been made recently
to the Hawaii Administrative Rules pertaining to elections. Those changes
include the elimination of provisions of the deputy registrar
program. As such, effective January 12, 2010 we are repealing all deputy
registrar commissions that were set to expire in November of 2010. We are also canceling all scheduled training
classes and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
The elimination of the deputy voter registrar
program does not mean that organizations may not conduct voter registration
drives. To the contrary, the Office of the City Clerk encourages organizations
to continue providing assistance to persons needing voter registration
assistance. However, any submission of completed
voter registration forms will be a private matter occurring between the
registrant and the delivering intermediary (if not submitted via personal
delivery or via U.S. Mail as recommended in the Hawaii Administrative Rules).
